Replacement Windows and Doors for North Carolina Homes
Energy Star-certified vinyl and fiberglass replacement windows, entry doors, and patio doors — professionally installed across the Triangle and coastal North Carolina.

One of the Highest-ROI Home Improvements You Can Make
Windows & Doors
Replacing old, drafty, single-pane or early-generation double-pane windows with modern Energy Star-rated replacement windows is one of the highest-return home improvements a homeowner can make. Returns come in three forms: direct energy savings (typically 7–15% reduction in heating and cooling costs), improved interior comfort, and significant resale value at sale — new windows are consistently among the top buyer-requested upgrades.
Modern replacement windows also dramatically reduce outside noise, block UV rays that fade furniture and flooring, and tilt in for easy cleaning. Every window we install is Energy Star rated for the North Carolina climate zone, and every project includes full flashing, waterproofing, and interior trim finish.
Above All Roofing & Construction installs Energy Star-rated vinyl and fiberglass replacement windows, entry doors, and patio doors throughout our Triangle and coastal service areas. We partner with tier-one manufacturers carrying lifetime warranties on the frame, sash, and insulated glass unit.
Every Window & Door Product We Install
Our Product Lineup
Every product we install carries Energy Star certification for NC climate, lifetime frame and glass warranty, and proper flashing and WRB integration — the details most window installers skip.
Vinyl Replacement Windows
Our standard specification. Double-pane insulated glass with Low-E coating, argon fill, warm-edge spacer, and a multi-chambered vinyl frame optimized for NC's climate zone. Lifetime manufacturer warranty. Colors: white, almond, tan, clay, and black standard — custom exterior colors at a modest upcharge.
Fiberglass Replacement Windows
Premium specification for large openings, historic applications requiring paint-match, and maximum dimensional stability. Stronger than vinyl, expands and contracts less with temperature changes, accepts any exterior paint. Marvin, Pella, and Andersen lines available. Typically 30–50% more than vinyl — worth it for the right application.
Impact-Rated Windows (Coastal)
Purpose-built for coastal NC hurricane exposure. Withstands 2x4 impact at hurricane wind speeds without shattering — glass may crack but stays held in place by a laminated inner layer. Qualifies for significant insurance premium discounts in coastal counties. Often integrated with our FORTIFIED™ coastal construction work.
Fiberglass Entry Doors
Our default recommendation for entry doors. Modern fiberglass replicates wood grain with extraordinary fidelity, accepts stain or paint, insulates better than solid wood, never warps or swells, and carries a lifetime warranty. Therma-Tru and Masonite lines. Typical ROI at resale: 70–80% of installed cost.
Steel Entry Doors
The most affordable entry door option with excellent security. Typically specified on secondary entries — garage-to-house, mudroom, side entry — or primary entries where budget is the priority. Impact-rated steel doors available for coastal applications that qualify for insurance premium discounts.
Patio & Sliding Doors
French patio doors (hinged, in-swing or out-swing) and sliding glass doors in both vinyl and fiberglass. Multi-point locking, Low-E glass, and Energy Star certification standard. Impact-rated patio door options for coastal applications. Full flashing and weatherstripping included in every installation.

ProVia Windows — Professional-Class Replacement Windows
ProVia Windows
ProVia occupies a specific and deliberate position in the replacement window market — professional-class customization at a level that mass-market window brands simply do not offer. Every ProVia window is engineered for the homeowner who wants more than a standard off-the-shelf replacement: more design flexibility, more finish options, more performance detail, and a longer service life backed by engineering that shows in the components.
Above All Roofing & Construction is a ProVia authorized installer. That means your ProVia windows are installed by a trained crew to manufacturer specification — the only way the warranty fully protects you. We bring ProVia samples to every in-home consultation so you can see profiles, hardware, and glass options in person before committing.
Many ProVia windows carry Energy Star certification and are built to meet the most stringent energy performance standards — keeping your home comfortable year-round while reducing HVAC load. Low-maintenance exterior finishes are engineered to hold appearance for decades without the fading, chalking, or hardware failures that lower-tier windows produce within the first ten years.
The 6 Performance Specs That Actually Matter
What to Look For
Window replacement decisions involve more variables than most homeowners expect. These are the six performance specifications that determine how well a window actually performs in NC's climate — and what to look for when comparing products.
U-Factor (Insulation)
Measures how well a window prevents heat from escaping. Lower is better. Energy Star specifies 0.30 or lower for NC climate zones. Premium windows achieve U-factors as low as 0.18–0.22. The single most important performance number when comparing products.
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)
Measures how much solar radiation passes through the glass. For NC's hot climate, lower SHGC reduces summer cooling loads. Energy Star specifies 0.25 or lower for our zone. Particularly important for south-facing windows that receive full afternoon sun.
Low-E Coatings
Microscopic metallic layers applied to glass surfaces inside the insulated unit. They reflect infrared radiation (heat) while allowing visible light through. Modern replacement windows typically have multiple Low-E coatings — optimized specifically for the NC climate zone where both summer heat and winter cold are factors.
Gas Fill & Warm-Edge Spacers
The space between panes is filled with argon (standard) or krypton (premium) — conducting less heat than air and meaningfully improving insulation. Modern warm-edge spacers replace traditional aluminum spacers that cause edge condensation. Together these two components eliminate the "cold edge" effect common in older windows.
Frame Material
Vinyl: most affordable, excellent thermal performance, zero maintenance, wide color range. Fiberglass: stronger, more stable, paintable to any color. Composite: blends both. We install vinyl as our standard and recommend fiberglass for large windows, historic applications, or premium specifications.
Replacement vs. New Construction
Replacement (insert) windows install into the existing frame — no siding or trim disturbed. 30–50% less cost, faster install. New construction (full-frame) windows require removing the entire existing frame and surrounding siding. Right when the frame is rotted, opening is being resized, or a full exterior project is underway.
Free In-Home Consultation
Our sales team visits, measures every opening, brings physical samples of frame material and glass options, and walks through the products that make sense for your project. Typically 60–90 minutes. Written estimate delivered within 24–48 hours.
Custom Ordering
Replacement windows are custom-made to the exact measurements of each opening. Typical lead time: 4–6 weeks for vinyl, 6–8 weeks for fiberglass. We confirm every measurement before ordering and contact you as soon as the windows arrive.
Installation Day(s)
Typically 8–14 windows per day. Each window is removed carefully, the rough opening inspected and cleaned, the new window set and plumbed, exterior flashed and sealed, interior trimmed and caulked. Most single-family homes completed in 1–3 days. You remain in your home throughout.

Signs Your Windows Are Ready for Replacement
When to Replace
The financial case for replacement is clearest on single-pane windows and early-generation double-panes installed before 1995 — aluminum frames with no Low-E coating, no argon fill, and U-factors in the 0.5–1.0 range. Modern replacements in the 0.22–0.30 range can cut heat transfer by 50–75%.
Most window replacement projects happen for one of three reasons: performance problems (drafts, condensation, high energy bills), operational problems (windows that won’t open or lock), or as part of a larger exterior renovation where new siding, roofing, and windows are being coordinated for maximum efficiency.

Windows & Doors FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a full-home window replacement take?
Most single-family replacements are completed in 1–3 days. Very large homes with 25+ windows may take 4–5 days. We install multiple windows per day and keep the home weather-tight throughout the project. You can remain in your home normally during installation.
Can I replace just a few windows instead of all of them?
Yes. Partial projects are common — we can replace one window, a few windows, or only one side of the home. Energy performance and resale value benefits scale with the number of windows replaced, but partial projects are absolutely fine and are priced the same per window as full-home replacements.
Do your windows qualify for federal tax credits?
Yes. Under current IRA provisions, Energy Star-rated windows qualify for a 30% tax credit up to $600 per year. We provide the product documentation you need for your tax filing at project closeout. Duke Energy and other NC utilities also periodically offer separate rebate programs — we can advise on what is currently available.
Can I change the style of a window during replacement?
Usually yes. Because we are replacing the entire window unit, we can change from double-hung to casement, from single to double, or add egress sizing — as long as the rough opening supports it. This is a common request on bathrooms (casement for easier cleaning) and bedrooms (egress casements to meet modern code).
Do you install impact-rated windows for coastal NC?
Yes — and we strongly recommend them for any home within hurricane range. Impact-rated windows are tested to withstand 2×4 impact at hurricane wind speeds, and they qualify for significant insurance premium discounts in NC coastal counties. We install them as part of our FORTIFIED™ coastal construction work.
Can you do windows and siding at the same time?
Yes — and it is the most efficient sequencing. We install windows first, properly flash and integrate the rough openings, then install the siding over the flange and WRB. Doing them simultaneously eliminates duplicate scaffold setups, ensures proper WRB continuity, and produces a cleaner finished detail at every window perimeter.
